Highlights:

0:18 when the pilot claims that he was "too cautious" in any way.

1:04 when the poor policeman attempts to do, you know, his job, but finds that his street shoes are worthless for getting traction on sand.

Watching the view from the water at 0:44, I thought he'd make it.

Re: How Not to do a Beach Takeoff

I've seen it before....once that water grabs a tire, it's got a LOT of drag. At that point, all the rudder in the world wouldn't have helped.

Re: How Not to do a Beach Takeoff

That's some very poor pilot skills. Beach is closed, plenty wide and long. No excuse

Re: How Not to do a Beach Takeoff

He did as good as he could with the skills that he had!! [-o<
As some say on here why would you ever do or practice something like that!!
Seems maybe he had never taken off from a beach before (little slope towards the water?), had never maybe ever been on a unpaved strip? #-o
He had practiced some engine out stuff and soft field =D> landings as he got it down!!
So maybe it does some good to go out and practice some of this stuff even if you are never planning on useing it??
So sorry for him to loose his ride!!

It's amazing how fast you can go from "aren't I cool" to "damn, I'm a douche"

Re: How Not to do a Beach Takeoff

Our newspapers were reporting that they made an emergency landing then tried to depart again. The rest, as they say is history.... In this case history was well recorded from every angle imaginable from the many beach goers.
