I made an edit to the tutorial because it was very old and no longer relevant.

Any chance you could simplify the process required to post photos?? Hoe the hell are you supposed to find the RIGHT URL for the photo, and why do we have to load the photo to the website?

Whine and snivel.......

Whiney guy,

I don't allow attachment of images to forum posts because it does just that: It attaches it to that single post. It requires you to upload your photo file every single time you want to use it. This promotes bad technique and perpetuates lacking of understanding with photo posting amongst you guys who should be learning the proper way of: Upload once, reference same source many times. That's what uploading to your personal photo gallery on here allows. It also would nullify all those images uploaded to this particular forum software if I choose to switch to a different forum software in the future, which I desperately do.

You have the choice of using any photo gallery website available on the Internet. Try Imgur, Flickr, Photobucket, whatever tickles your fancy. You simply copy the image URL from your gallery here or one of the aforementioned sites, and paste it between IMG tags. Some of those sites make copying the image URL really easy It's not so hard here on our site either. Go to your photo in your gallery, open it in the big view, click/tap the "Image URL" link in the toolbar and the image opens in a new tab/window. Copy the address bar contents that end in ".jpg" (the image URL.)

Let's say that in a whiskey haze one night you post a photo of your best and shortest takeoff, but it was with an unapproved nosewheel fork, maybe something you homebrewed in the garage. You post it 5 times around the forums, here, sc.org, homebrewforks.org, but then your buddy call you to say he heard the Feds had caught wind and were looking for evidence. You have 5 minutes to delete the photos. Where are they? They're attached X number of times to forum posts, meaning X copies. Seach sucks, (except for a Fed) and you're having no luck. If you had uploaded to your gallery once and just referenced it, a single deletion would have hidden the evidence.

We're overdue for a good photo tutorial with the new site software (which is due to get upgraded in a bad way.) I have this grand idea for a way that would make photo posting SO EASY and also adhere to my "by reference" technique above, but it just takes time and a good web developer to help me out. It would allow you to access your photo gallery from the toolbar in the post editor, and select the photo you had previously uploaded, and automatically place it in the post for you. Sounds nice, huh? Hit the Paypal button below!! Haha...
