Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

I got my seaplane/windshield/wire brace kit, but

There is no info on where to put the holes in the glare shield for the wires #-o . I can probably guess and get reasonably close :? , but it would be nice if someone here had the same setup and could give me some #'s to double check my guestimate so my glareshield doesn't turn into one big hole.

I've asked Wipaire a couple times for the info, but with no results sofar. I'll try again on Mon, after that, I guess I'll just have to wing it. [-o<

What did you end up buying? If it's the Atlee Dodge brace I can give you my measurements. Pretty simple and straight forward install.

Thanks Gary

Hello shortfielder,
As I recall when installing the brace we where on are own also.
We installed the brakets then tied a string to each one with a small magnet at the end.
Slid them around until the string looked striaght, marked the spot. Then used a small
dremal and made a small hole. Then ran the string from one braket (wing to motor mount)
to the othier. Now I just kept cutting the hole until the string was stright without touching
the glair shield. It took awhile but turned out good.
Good Luck.

Do you still have that plane, or know who does, or the N#? I could get some dimensions and take a lot of the guess work out of the process.

Thanks Gary

Gary................

I had an opportunity to fly a Carbon Cub the other day and the performance was unbelievable. A dealer from Grand Junction had a demo plane in southern Arizona and we had a chance to go around the patch. Very impressive climb rate at gross, and a very short take-off roll. The controls were very responsive. It looks like they did everything right with that design. He had 26' Goodyears on it.

Hey Wiz
Was it Ladd or Steve. They have a pretty cool airpark, Mack Mesa.
I got a buddy up here with one. Pisses me off everytime I see him. To me that plane is the pik of litter.
So will you be gettin a new pane??? 8)

Yes we still have it, It's a 1955. I will try and get some pictures
and measurments for you. However I think the reason no one
gives measurments is because each airframe maybe just a bit
different. I'll try and get them tomorrow.

Re: I got my seaplane/windshield/wire brace kit, but

Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou :D
I know it may not be exact, but should be as close, or closer than I can guess. If you can get a good reference point and measurement, I can work the the hole from there as needed. I guessing finding the center of the glare shield and from the structure that the panel is mounted too, and measuring from those points, unless you have a better idea.

I can't remember the name of the sales guy from Carbon Cub, but he said he would take my Maule in on trade for a Carbon Cub. It would be nice to have one, but I don't think it is in the cards for me. I don't believe that Dianne is supportive of a backcountry fleet of birds.

Boats come in fleets, Birds come in Flocks
But if you are tradin in, you still ony have 1. Prepare to have some fun, but also be prepared to travel light. Probably only have room for some beer, and the harmonica.

Hey Gary...............
I guess that is the reason I have a Maule with the large baggage area to haul all of the "stuff". When you bring the wife along, the camping requirement list goes well beyond the beer and harmonica.

Re: I got my seaplane/windshield/wire brace kit, but

Hi Gary.
I stopped at the hanger to measure and take some pictures, but
I will have to remove the hand grips in the glair shield to remove the
mat on it. I did't have the tools needed with me. I will not make it
back out thier until Thursday or week end sorry.
On another note, I was told that the engine mount bolt would be
long enough. Long story short it cost me a week because I had to find
longer bolts. I can"t find the invoice of what size they where. But plan
ahead so you are not down to long. I will get the measurments and
some pictures as soon as possible.
