Re: I need a bigger tractor!

I just picked up today a 65 Massey 2135 40hp Diesel with loader. Wont have that much snow to move but will have to move some fence posts, dirt and mow grass this summer making my backyard airstrip.

Scout,
I like it, some may think it'd be overkill (2,000 horse blower for a 100 horse plane) and I would have to build a large addition onto the hanger and install a lot more fuel storage, but it would be worth it. I also wouldn't have to pull the sagebrush in the summer, just deal with it in the winter with that monster. I'd have to keep a closer eye on my dog, who likes to tag along when I'm tractoring, and the noise may annoy the neighbors a half mile away!

WHEEL SKIS!!!!!!

No more bitching and moaning about not having a big enough tractor, I up and ordered a set of retractable wheel skis from Datumair (http://www.datumair.com), they are in stock, so I will have them shortly. I am getting REAL excited, just thinking about all the trouble I can get into with these things! Best of all, my little Kubota can rest easy, in fact now I want the runway to drift in! It's interesting how I can justify this:
SAFETY
DON'T HAVE TO BUY A BIGGER TRACTOR
GO MORE PLACES
CHEAPER THEN FIXING THE AIRPLANE
GOT PAID ON A FEW CRANE JOBS, FINALLY
MAY HAVE A BIG CRANE JOB COMING UP
MAY WIN THE STATE LOTTERY
HAVE BUSHWHEELS, MAY AS WELL HAVE SKIS
By the time I got done dreaming up all the reasons I HAD to have them, I realized I couldn't afford to NOT buy them, I'm saving money, not spending it! I'll post again when they get here. When talking to the Canadian company today, I apologized a few times for our hockey team whipping theirs, it seemed like the thing to do.

They look like a nice product. What was the price? Oh, by the way...you still need a bigger tractor. Just ask me or Scout about our tractor sagas. LOL

Re: I need a bigger tractor!

Ben,
You bet, I'll do it, without the skis there's be few places to land between your place in mine, with them hundreds!

The tractor's big enough, I was working it 4 times as hard as just doing my driveway, can't afford now anyway! The skis were $4800 or so Canadian, with shipping and the going across the border expenses. Apparently that includes everything needed to install. Also included, a nice little tail ski (wheel penetration).

If anyone has a pair of 6:00 tires, preferably used and 4 ply, you want to sell PM me, I need them for the ski setup.
