I want to try to find some whales past the ADIZ.How to file?

I'm on Nantucket Island and want to cruise out and see some whales cruising. The ADIZ is right there. Do I have to file a VFR flight plan or can I just get flight follow, squawk code, and proceed. Anyone know?

ington, Don't know about the ADIZ, but I once rented a 172 in Maui and I do know that they (the "people") don't like you flying at 50 ft above them (the whales).

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.
A basic VFR flight plan will not work to cross the ADIZ line. You must file and IFR flight plan or a DVFR. You will be responsible for filing, activating and closing your flight plan with the controlling authority. You will also need a mode C transponder and 12 inch high tail numbers (duct tape can work if you have the small numbers).
The pilots that fly around the nations capitol are now very familiar with and ADIZ, or at least they should be.
Its just that easy...
