IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

Uploaded today. Last renewal period (IA) took three days, CFI is longer. Very happy with online processing.

PS Honolulu FSDO discontinued in person training/seminars

So, coming up on that time of the year (IA renewal), what the heck is IACRA. Hope it is not anything like the new AD/TCDS system.

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

I hope this helps a bit. I too had to look up up what exactly IACRA stands for, then promptly dumped that information! I’ve used the site for CFI renewals.

I used IACRA last week for my IA Renewal submission and it wasn’t too painful. I had to call the helpline for password help. I spoke to a congenial and helpful guy (FAA contractor?) who got it sorted out.

While it did take a few tries to get it right, I was able to input course numbers for first year (Gleim course) and second year (Concorde online seminar) and upload image/Word files of those certificates. Those with enough inspection activity can input that data onto the form as well.

While one might use a device, a PC seems to make it easier to fill in all the small boxes.

Still I wonder if FSDO will send me a new Yellow Card, or an affidavit to go along the one I have.

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

When I got my initial CFI at the FSDO, there was some FAA computer screw up and in IACRA I didn’t have the instructor button for a month or two, so for the students I was recommending as a full time CFI I had to do it old school with paper, I always made sure to bring the DPE donuts lol

Once it was fixed I was able to use IACRA as a instructor

Much much better, just the simple computer math checking on hours is worth its weight in gold

One of the interesting ones is the drone cert, getting your sUAS as a existing pilot you do a online class, fill out a IACRA, log out, have a instructor log in and check your ID and everything, he signs it, next, and you just print your temp sUAS cert out, no DPE or anything

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

So, are local FSDOs no longer doing IA renewals? I do not understand what this whole thing is about as I have not received anything from the FSDO stating they rolled out some online renewal website.

Atlanta FSDO gave me the option of mailing everything in to them. Apparently FSDO’s are still the authority on the actual issuance of a renewal.

must just be me, I just spent about three hours wading through the morass, I think I got it done but won't be sure for a while.
Not a fan of government web sites, they never seem to work quite right.

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

Took a few days, but I finally reached someone at the FSDO. Looks like their days of dealing with us GA pukes are over. I have to go deal with IACRA, too. Damn. Sadistic bastards.

Who are you guys using for the online seminar - Gleim? Kind of tired of their course.

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

I was under the assumption that I can only submit my IA renewal paperwork (IACRA)to the FAA during the month of March? If I’m wrong someone correct me.

I received an email stating IACRA is the preferred method now, however mail-in is second and in-person is third.

I much like this IACRA, I used it for my other ratings and cfi renewals. Its super simple and less risk of the snail mail loosing my hard copy’s.

I talked with the FSDO this morning. IACRA will accept IA applications and your local FSDO will start reviewing online in March. In person renewal is the same, March only.

Re: IACRA IA & CFI renewal is nice

I can't speak about the IA renewal either. Wish I could - it would have saved me a shit-ton in maintenance bills. I did recently complete a FIRC through American Flyers. Link below:

https://americanflyers.com/training/firc-for-life/

Super easy. I actually think I paid 129 dollars for it - so they dropped the price. Supposedly good for the rest of your life. It was separated into 12 modules - each one about 1.5 hours. Super dry material but to be expected. They have 2 quizzes - I think about 30 questions each after the first and last 6 modules. I could have passed them without reading the material presented. After completion of the course. You fill out the IACRA paperwork give them your FTN number. Viola - it's done. I used to have a friend who was a DPE and renewed mine through him for years. I left it lapse in 2011. Won't do that again (they say don't do that and I did it). Anyway - pretty cool it is good for the rest of your life. Assuming American Flyers stays in business.

Is anyone else being told that the FAA has come out with a new version of the 8610-1 that goes into affect March 1 and that if you filed through IACRA before then the form is not valid?

Received my letter today, but not sure what I am expected to carry around with me. I guess the yellow cards are a thing of the past?

Totally stoked. Received CFI & IA renewal in the comfort of my downtown apartment in Honolulu! That’s pretty good service, eh?

The newly updated form includes the Pilots Bill of Rights in it, so you don't have to sign and include that on a separate sheet. My inspector said they were notified of it, just after they sent out all the renewal letters here in MT.
I got it easy this year... had my inspector stop by the hangar and he signed it all.... I'm hoping I never have to mess with the IACRA garbage...
