Ice Pilots: Mini-series about northern Canadian flight ops

There is a new mini series on the day to day ops of a Yellowknife based outfit airing on the History Channel next week. I'm not sure you guys in the States will get it but you can likley view the episodes online. The show is called ice pilots and features Buffalo Airways, a northern based operator using DC 3's, 4's, C-46's etc. I haven't had a chance to see any episodes yet but and any show with aviation usually captures my full attention.

I'm pretty sure I saw this on the program guide for my DirecTV satellite. I'll check for sure, but the title seems familiar to me. Hopefully I'll be able to see it!

We'll find a way to get it to our masses should we not be able to view it.

I'll be watching for that show. I need some tips on how to keep warm. I have been riding snowmobiles for 39 years and never been cold doing that but in my no heater airplane I about freeze to death.

Yep looks as if it is only on Shaw Communications (cable) which is a Canadian supplier.

They also carry "Ice Road Truckers" ; therefore, there is hope the History Channel in the States will pick it up.

Anyone catch any episodes? I saw the first three........quite entertaining.......but anything with planes is! I was hoping that the icepilotsnwt.com would air the episodes online but they just have the trailers for now. Maybe when the series is over they will have full episodes online!

http://www.history.ca/video/default.aspx should get you full episodes, but I haven't tried as it would be a life sentence on dial up.

I also tried the link with the same results. However, I have StarChoice sat tv in addition to DISH and the program comes on Wednesday nights on the History Channel, #506, at 7 pm Pacific time. I saw the first episode but have missed the last 2 as I was "on the road". A pretty good series profiling Buffalo Airlines in Yellowknife. I am sure glad I don't have to fly in the winter up there!!!! :D

ya you can't stream and watch if you are not in Canada but

http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=ice+pilots

If anyone is familiar with how torrents work, the above link will get you to the first 3 episodes.
Personally, I use Transmission on my mac but there are others for windows.

There are very few seeders, so may take a long time to download, but it's a means to an end.

Just watched the first one and love it! It's the kind of job I dream about.

I'll let you know if I find later episodes.

Wow, what a great show. My dad and I watched all three episodes back to back last night. They gotta bring this to the US market.

I like that apparently, the word "shit" is not censored by Canada's version of the FCC.

Re: New mini-series about northern Canadian flight ops

Hey Zane, Was wondering if you might know what I could do to play those episodes. I am quite the Dummy when it comes to computers. I am pretty sure I have the file on my computer for the episode but cant get media player to play. I have tried for a while but no luck, Any suggestions. We overhaul quite a few of those engines for Buffalo and it would be cool to watch them in action.

Thanks in Advance,

Dave

Zane , how did you get to see this down in Oregon? Do you have some sort of outlaw bootleg satellite set-up? I'm alot closer to canada than you here in NW Washington-- just got satellite (Dish TV) a month or so ago and no sign of this series.

A "buddy" told me that all that bootleg activity has been shut down for about three weeks. No wonder this site has been so busy. I am sure free enterprise will come up with a solution. Steve

Re: New mini-series about northern Canadian flight ops

For those of you downloading and watching, episodes 1-7 are available. If you haven't been able to figure it out. YouTube has episode 1 split into 5 parts.

For higher quality video
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
