Glad everyone is ok. One person had to be extracted but nothing life threatening. Was my buddies Dad's plane. Mechanical failure but I haven't asked what failed.

First I heard about it. Looks like they did good all things considered.

only a mile and a half south on approach....twin turbines ive been behind seem awfully dependable...glad he landed it good, an 8000 lb glider cant be too much fun....ive met that pilot, he is in hangar next to mine, and he should be commended on this one...for keeping control and keeping it all in one piece...

Good guess, I think. When both engines quit, it's a lot more likely there's no go-juice left, than that some other mechanical condition shut them down.

Re: Idaho Falls Plane Crash 9/19/2013

Once upon a time in a twin, 5 minutes into our low fuel lights I asked the Captain if he wanted the crossfeed on. He snapped back with "why would I want both engines to quit at the same time?"

Flying Beavers we'd regularly blow two of the three tanks dry while flying just to be sure that the last tank had everything we were ever going to get left in it. Turbines are little more work to restart.

I'm guessing the liquid part of the mechanical equation failed.
