Re: Idaho plane overdue

The evening news told that the plane had been found and it appeared to be in a tree. I don't think they had gotten to it as yet. In the Stanley area I think.

I know for a fact that they did not survive. I don't know what happened yet except that they died instantly from a very hard impact, nose first. The pilot was a friend of mine since high school. The passenger was his brother-in-law. It's a really sad deal. ~ Steve

Re: Idaho plane overdue

Very sorry to hear about your friends, Steve. Condolences to the families and to those who know them. There are no words we can offer to ease the pain; having recently lost a friend in another crash I certainly feel your sorrow.

Re: Idaho plane overdue

Jerry was my neighbor, fellow farmer and flying buddy. God, he was a good friend! His enthusiasm for flying was endless.

I so regret not being more powerful in changing his mind to stay and RON in Salmon after a night flight to bring his brother in laws engine company Blaze Runners, two fresh crew members, to a Fire in Salmon. Smoke filled our valleys, but the moon was full and there were areas with little smoke. He said he would corkscrew to 12 and head for Chalis,Stanley and into Nampa.
Got the call at 3:18 from his wife Jane he was over due and started making calls. It was not until I reached Idaho State Aeronautics when I felt comfortable actions were being taken to find Jerry.

Jerry, I love you and will miss you. Condolences to Jane and his family and his friends.

Good bye Friend

Flying has many wonderful 'Highs' that we all enjoy-frequently and immensely.....
Losing friends/companions/buddies has to to be the lowest of the negatives of being in the flying world.

To those who knew them and/or were good friends with them.....Sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for the loss, I taxi by a simple marker created to honor a lost friend/aviator every time I move from the hanger. It was, constructed by a close friend to the lost flyer (neither of whom I knew). For me it delivers a great message of honor, and rememberance and me a pause to safety for a safe thought for those who continue to take to the sky which I greatly appreciate.

Re: Idaho plane overdue

I am sorry for your loss. It's a hard thing when we lose a friend. It's even harder when the friend dies doing something you both used to do together. I have had a few reminders of a friend I lost a couple years ago thoughou the day today. At least I am just remembering the good stuff now, and not the pain of losing him.

So sorry to hear of this. If there is one bright side it's that it beats wasting away in a hospital bed. However, there are very few good ways to die. My condolences to all involved.
