Interior paint

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Interior paint

Almost done rebuilding wings on my 170, planning to strip repaint and put new windows on fuselage.

What’s a good paint to use on interior?

Not planning to install interior side panel's

Re: Interior paint

I've had great success with Imron. It's a toxic paint to shoot, and you must use proper PPE, but their industrial rail road paint is tough as nails.

Like all painting, prep is EVERYTHING. Lazy prep and you'll never get a good or lasting finish regardless of what product you shoot.

Re: Interior paint

I’m with Greg. It is loaded with the bad stuff so a fresh air mask with eye protection is a must. But it sure is forgiving. Even a yahoo like me can get a decent looking job with it.

I like Sherwin Williams Jet-Glo for both exterior and interior.

Re: Interior paint

I’ve done a few different interiors with NAPA Crossfire, Advantage and one with Wanda. Those are all catalyzed paints, possibly acrylic enamel and are very easy to work with. Everything is a compromise and painting an interior is a pain in the butt, or a paint in the butt maybe. Getting everything prepped and then getting the paint on all of those surfaces and nooks and crannies is work. Full goon suiting will make that harder. Like all things aviation, you just have to manage your compromises in a way that works best for you, cost, ease and durability are amongst those things. Good luck!

I personally like Stewart Systems Ekopoly Premium, because I almost killed myself with the other stuff. It'll stick as good as anything out there, is more flexible than anything I've found and wont expose you to the amount of harmful chemicals that a solvent borne paint will. It also ships non-hazardous.

Re: Interior paint

To get this straight, you are painting the interior side of the skin and structure, not interior panels?

Re: Interior paint

Yes painting the interior of the plane, I was thinking just spray with primer since I have all the interior trim out, and be done but figure something like light grey paint will make it look less unfinished.
