It's on the Sectional

You should really talk to the FAA to get the International part added on the sectional too. :P

Don't you have to Add TSA agents and Customs ? Little freckled faced "gate agents" to get aboard your utlalight /LSA .My insurance (on airplane and me ) works 2 ways If it's on the sectional as a "landing area" I'm covered 100%.. If it not on chart as a landing area (except in case of emergency) I'm only covered to 80% of hull value Liability is same everywhere . If you put a windsock on it it identifies strip as landing site for aircraft and could put you jeopardy if someone crashes and decides to sue. If your "wind indicating device "is say a Flag it's not a airstrip ,Been there done that.

Re: It's on the Sectional

My friend Russ Reed has officially changed the name of his strip to Reed International, and that's the way it shows on the latest sectional: http://www.airnav.com/airport/1CD1.

Of course, the airport at Green River, WY is pretty classic, Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport: http://www.airnav.com/airport/48U. I like this permanent NOTAM: DEBRIS, TRASH, ANIMAL CARCASSES OFTEN FOUND ON RY.

When I put my strip in, both my attorney and the Fed attorney I talked to said that if it's on the sectional and marked as PVT, then I was covered liability wise, if someone just decided to "drop in" without permission and busted their plane or themselves.

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!

Re: It's on the Sectional

Also, many states now have specific legislation holding landowners harmless if someone hurts themselves while they're recreating on that persons land. This applies to airstrips in Montana, not sure about Idaho.

MTV

Hello MTV,
Idaho does have a great landowner release from liability law. It is Idaho State Code. My grass is coming up nicely and I got my windsock pole up this weekend. I left the windsock off so no one trys to land there until the power-line is gone. So anyway I'm ordering 320 feet of 3 inch conduit this week out of Lewiston. Waiting on a freeze to dig the trench.

Looking great James.......

a few things..

How did ya get the grass to green up this time of year ?

I use the exact same windsock and frame,,, real good quality..

On those evergreen trees that are by the paved county road.... If I am not wrong it looks like pine beetles are starting to kill all of them,,,, maybe a little round up spread around the roots might help cure that ? [-o<

Stol,
I planted 150 pounds of grass seed October 10th on the runway. That top picture shows the landing direction. This is a one way in one way out airstrip. Landing down-stream and taking off upstream. This runway requires the skills for Dewey Moore, and the power required to take-off heavy from Vines.

Planning a grand opening this spring.

Re: It's on the Sectional

Hello Backcountry Pilots,
Think I'm getting closer to finishing up my runway. Put in 300 feet of 3 inch conduit last week and got it back filled too. My neighbor has an awsome Mini-excavator that I hired pretty cheap. Anyway I'm having the power company hang one small orange marker ball that I bought online, and I'm painting the top of one power-pole orange too. Hope to be done by New Years.

Have you done a landing under the wires before they're buried? 8) [-X
