Maybe JC is not a one-way strip in the pure sense, but I understand that when the land/strip was donated by the people in the house at the south end, one of the conditions was that attempts would be made not to operate off the south end. Consequently, the request to land south and take off north. It may be a wife's tale, but I know the family that donated the land still owns the white house at the south end and that land.

All true except the landing from the south... Only thing they ask is you not fly over the house on landing or takeoff,but I wouldn't take off that way... I've landed that way a couple times... You stay over the creek till you pass the house then turn in over the strip and land. Needless to say you are pretty low over the trees at the south end but that's mountain flying... not a big deal..The land south, take off north is not a rule but common sense... More accurate is land upstream, take off downstream..When I landed from the south both times it was after a shower passed through and the North end was fogged in with clouds but the south end was open and clear and there was no wind..When you pass the house you are about level with the roof and over the creek. A quick turn to the left and straighten out over the strip and land... I was still stopped by the time I got to the camera....

I think I will try and video one of all the pieces of advise given here and then turn it over to the FAA for a training tape.

I will need to borrow a few chicks to get the Scout loaded heavy enough to fly through the notch low enough to make a good training pic.

Maybe I should bring the T-6 then the girls could be posers

Lemme know, I'll round 'em up and fly them in. Think ten will be enough, I can get that many in one flight into JC.
