Another fun gravel bar in Washington, flying with Jughead.
With cold air, much better performance , lightweight plane ,just pilot and 24 gallons,ground speed 41 kts very stable on short final, not bad for a 182
Take offs were a lot shorter than usual too.

That spot is very well known by local float plane pilots. For many of us that's the first place to practice when training for river operations. In the floatplane one always lands the other direction just a little up river so as to turn around before the shallows adjacent to your gravel bar.

Big tires, we don't need no stinking big tires.

Nice landing and takeoff. What about a rudder turn in low ground effect to miss the trees on the right bank and go down the middle of the river? Why go over something you can go around?

The bridge, he had to climb and turn away to avoid the bridge. It's best to stay as far away from people when you're doing this sort of stuff... I would have done the exact same thing.

Looked like a good example of a stabilized approach.

Yes, the wing is completely stock with the exception of some mine ding's on the left leading edge from it's previous life in Alaska. Stock O-300 with a 80-46 prop. I was carrying 20 gals of fuel, no back seat, probably 15 pounds of gear in the back.
