Re: KFTG in Denver?

I learned to fly out of KFTG, however both runways are 8000', so I don't think it qualifies as a short strip :)

Well, Now that they're going to close the tower, I'll get a lot more grass landings in...

Re: KFTG in Denver?

jaudette, no, KFTG will just revert to the 100' long by 8000' wide runways it had before the tower came in, which is plenty. Plus the diagonal crosswind runways (which the tower mistakenly believes to be high speed taxiways) will once again be usable. And the last I knew, the nearest town of any size wasn't Denver, but Watkins

Dude, really? I'll be landing all over out there... I just read the letter Dennis Heap sent to the FAA - I'm guessing it won't make a difference and they'll close the thing down.

Watkins doesn't qualify as a town, but does have Lulu's and Biscuits for lunch and breakfast food, respectively.

Re: KFTG in Denver?

My old man and I are both at FTG. We have a pair of matching 185s out there. Drop me a line via PM and maybe we can get together. I always have cold beer at the hangar if we can't fly.

Re: KFTG in Denver?

I have a couple of friends who fly out of FTG..sometimes they fly up to SNY and sometimes I fly to FTG, and sometimes we meet at GXY for breakfast. Maybe our pathes may cross someday.
