THE BUY
Got to KFTG Friday afternoon. Luckily I had arranged a quick test flight with the owner. Did three Laps, Boinked the first one but the other two were fine. Loved the Airplane.. The owner is a Female ATP who works for United. She has done everything right with this plane.
Overhaul by Penn-Yan . Cylinder/Block heater , ADS-B out ect
So, I now own a 56 Piper Pacer Conversion . The pre Buy went smooth. I randomly picked an I/A off the internet and had visions of a homeless guy in an old smoking Van pulling up. I was way off. I used Rudy Metz . Super thorough and knowledgeable . Turns out He is a Technical Writer for Sierra Nevada Aerospace and He was the owners ground instructor at United ( score!)
I arranged to fly with a CFI Sunday and Monday. That didn't happen due to wind
He has agreed to help me get the bird back home..........if the wind in New Mexico ever dies
So...........heres what I bought
1956 Tri-pacer Conversion

Went out to Platte Valley to see SPDCRAZY,s pacer and ran into a guy selling a set of near new Goodyear 8.5 x 6,s
Good tire for me to start out with.
Now, If I can get a few days of good weather without a windstorm blowing I'm all set.
Oh- Insurance. I had two companies ready to go. The broker s ask about my tailwheel time so I know the policy was submitted to underwriters as a tailwheel. I was quoted a price of 1030 a yaer by both companies. I went to give my Credit Card and asked about the conversion...........................at that point BOTH agents realized the policies had been written for a Tri-Pacer even though tail wheel time was submitted.
I ended up having to pay 1630 a year through BWI
