Klamath river/Scott valley/Shasta loop

Oregon180 and I decided to explore some unfamiliar territory on Saturday by making a short loop SW through Illinois valley, then south to Happy Camp, and east up the Klamath river and then on up the Scott river into Scott valley and past Fort Jones. We headed out to the big valley for a good view of Mt. Shasta and then made the turn north for home (Rogue valley.)

Incredible area and scenery out there in the Marble mountain wilderness area. A guy with a light plane, big tires, tiny N-number, a ski mask, and a really quiet exhaust could have a lot of fun. I'm sure Gump Air knows of some fun to be had around these parts.

That's where all this flying stuff started for me... If I'd collected butterflies instead I'd be a retired zillionaire by now.

Just a bit closer to Mt Shasta and you would be in my controled air space. I was working in the Hobby Shop that afternoon.

I did look for your house and I was going to show you my N-number, but I guess I was way off. I was looking for a east-west running 2-lane road off the interstate, but i guess I remembered it being closer to Montague than it is, and so I was way off. I circled for a bit over those farm plots east of 1O5 but nothing looked familiar.

Hey thats my neck of the woods. Was in happy camp a few weeks back. Oregon180 are you based in Grants Pass? Looked like 3S8 from some of the pics posted. Amazing country and just about 35 miles away!

You may have flown over my friends strip on the the Klamath. A ways upstream from Happy Camp
It is a few miles down stream from Seiad (sp) Valley and few miles from Hamburg.
A take off from the diving platform is shown on the beginning of the video clip on Lori's
web site for the McCall Mountain Canyon Flying.

I flew right over it. It looks like a pretty nice strip, up on the hillside with a bit of upslope to it. Looks like a pretty exciting takeoff out into the river canyon.

That's right Wannabe, we flew over Woody's strip. I remember you guys telling me about it a few years back at McCall. Looks really nice! I'm jealous!

Hi, Gptc, I'm based out of Ashland. Z and I met up in Grants Pass.
