I'm here in Reno visiting some family. Every time I come the gate seems to be closed. Trying to find out if anyone knows the code to the vehicle gate next to the tower. I don't want to get arrested by homeland security trying to hop the fence when I depart tomorrow. If it is a security issue please PM me.

There was a phone, connected with KRNO tower I believe, right at the main gate to have them open it.

Been a couple years since I've had to use it. I think there's a couple Stead guys on here.......

Yeah, I've tried the phone. Last time it connected me to someone that had no idea what I was trying to do. Which was get in the gate.

Usually the gate by the tower is open by 6 am (I don't think I've ever seen it closed actually), but the other gates are closed on weekends. Gump is correct, that the phone there should automatically connect to the Reno tower and you should just have to tell them you're tied down at RTS as a visitor and need access to leave and they open the gates for you remotely. If it doesn't work at the tower gate, drive down to the west gate and try that one - I know I've used the far west gate a few times through the phone.

I don't think the keypad works any more - at least for us "residents" we have a magic card we wave at the box and it opens the gate for us. I would volunteer to meet you there and make sure you could get in, but am on the road.

I appreciate the help. I'll try the phone if the gate is not open. If that doesn't work I can make it happen. I'll be leaving after lunch Sunday.

The phone connects with Reno communications, so you need to tell them you have a plane at RTS and they will open the gate for you. The other gates to the West are not open on weekends. Sorry you had issues... it's a great field to be based at.
