There are still lots of parts out there for the engine. The pressure carb has become quite expensive to OH. However a diligent person might notice that the Air Force made a ton of power carts and hydraulic mules with the O-470-11 engine. These can be had for very little, sometimes nothing, and then the parts would need to be sent off for OH & check.

Hell one would die of old age if you put 1800 hours on a Dog, slowest way between two points. Bring a pregnant woman with you so the child can land it. Fun getting there, but do not be in a hurry. Best speed mod or STOL mod, keeping it stock, is to get a spare prop, pitch one to cruise and one to climb. Not exactly real difficult to swap them. I have bought the props for $150.
