Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

Just looking for any info about this airpark in Aguanga, CA. It's about 25-30 east of Temicula in southern Riverside County.

Any forum members live or have homes here?

Pro's? Con's? The good, bad or ugly?

By just doing a simple real estate and local info search on Google, it looks like a fairly affordable airpark not too far from the SoCal madness.

Thanks!

LOL..... I might have an opportunity with a previous employer in Orange County. May or may not have to leave Idaho. That's the short answer. LOL

It's HOT right there. That is a long drive to anywhere but with an airplane relatively close. I used to live in San Diego and had my RV-9A hangared in Ramona, I flew off most my test hours in the airspace above where you mention. Probably only 15-20 minutes from Ramona. Would be a pretty neat place in the winter. There are a few airports / communities / dirt strips in the area. It almost seems like an area that once tried to boom but is now a ghost town. Still some civilization, lots of golf courses and pools.

Edit: actually I was referring to the Borrego area, but I think all the same applies.

Re: Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

My folks lived for years in Fallbrook SW of there, and my niece lives at Canyon Lake which is NW of there. You would think that an airpark property out there would be pretty reasonably priced, and that the area would be pretty quiet, but I don't know about either one of those these days. When I visited my niece last year, it seems like at lot of that country down around therelooked pretty meth-heady, at least close to I-15 & I-215. Just like the Antelope Valley area (Lancaster Palmdale etc) used to be a good quiet place to live (if you like the desert) , I hear now it's all meth labs & gangs.

As far as the Lake Riverside airstrip itself goes, I think Rob posted here a while back about a flight into there to eat at the catfish place.

Re: Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

Flew in there once many years ago for a BBQ at Ray Cote's place. This was maybe 1988-89. Perfectly nice little "country style" airport with a 2500-3500 foot strip if I recall. Definitely not like a big city municipal airport.

The area has probably gotten far more populated in the last 20+ years, but I would think it is still about as "out in the country" as you can get while still being accessible to SoCal population centers.

Re: Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

Thanks!

As usual, I'm thinking way ahead of myself. But, if they want me to relocate back to SoCal I was thinking about a place out by my parents (they live in Murrieta) but just far enough away to get away from most of the big city craziness. This Airpark and community looks good on the Net. Next time I'm down there, I'll run over and check it out. I'm also far away from buying another plane anyway.

I may ask to work 10 hour days Monday-Thursday and I can stay right there at the office 3 nights. But most of the time, I'll be on the road Jan-Sept anyway. So I may not even need to find a residence in SoCal. Just Hotel it for the few nights I'm at the office here and there.

Maybe I should just stick with mining!! LOL....... But, I miss racing!

Nope, I was mistaken. Finally recalled that it was Lake Wohlford (not Lake Riverside) where Rob flew in for a catfish dinner.

Re: Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

I googled the place and came up with this website.
Apparently one home is currently for sale @ $339K, and two lots @ $32.5K and $189K (quite a spread!).

Please post what you find out, I've toyed for years with the idea of a modest winter getaway place down in the warm country somewhere. A mobile or small house on a grass strip would be ideal. I have a brother & sister in south Orange County & a niece in Lake Elsinore, so a place out in the boonies in SoCal would work well for being close to them.

Re: Lake Riverside Airpark Estates 54CL

My sister lives at Lake Riverside Estates.
You need permission from a resident to land there. It has grown with more horses than airplanes.
The runway is great. Hard packed sealed dirt with lights. Does get hot there in the summer and they
do get a sprinkling of snow in the winter.
I used to visit regularly in my 210. But haven't been there since we moved out of SoCal.
The website doesn't appear to have the info on the airport anymore, they do have published approaches and
departures.

It is a distance from anything. My sister drives 75 miles one way to work in Escondido, but down the hill in Temecula/Murrietta, is everything,
including French Valley airport.

I have a PDF with all the info on the airport, it is a number of years old, but if you would like a copy let me know.

Thank you for the reply! If or when I get serious, I'll check more into this. I just wanted to see what my living situation options are if I get into negotiations with a job offer.

We'll see what happens, Jomac. I really don't mind mining, but where I'm at in the middle of Nevada it's a boring lonely life driving around in circles!! I'll keep you posted.

And yeah...... It's a difficult decision to think about moving back to the Snake Pit. But the position I'm looking at will have me on the road Jan thru September anyway. Who knows, they may not even require me to move at all. But, it would suck to have to pay CA and ID state income tax when I dont even work and collect a paycheck in Idaho. But that's another story.

The catfish place you are talking about is a strip called Lake Wohlford, not Lake Riverside Estates.

Make sure you stop by Fallbrook airport (L18) when you are down. Not far from Lake Wohlford.

Thanks for the invite! I'll only have one day to look around this coming trip. And I'm afraid Fallbrook will be a bit out of my budget.
