Re: Landing In A Bowl???

That was good.
At about 1:20 in to it the Super Cub pilot does a pretty good job of explaining why Cubs have a rounded wingtip. From where I sit it looks pretty close.

I always enjoy the Ohio videos. My wife got me a Kodak Play Sport video cam for Christmas. Think I'll try it out early. At the very minimum I'll have a well documented approach to the after life.

Mongo, Greg is up to his armpits in tires and wheels. He has tires and wheels for any condition. When you call Greg to see if he wants to go flying, he asks where? Then he does his nascar type of pit-stop with that famous two by four, and he switches out for that particular landing zone.

Yes....but does he have skis? He NEEDS skis! You guys get enough snow back there...my first winter after getting my Airstreaks was terrible, all my off airport sites were closed to me once the snow got deep, and it was back to airport flying until I got my wheel skis. So....what do you guys do in the winter?

Courierguy, Do you think Greg would let a few months of snow stop him from flying??

Now that's more like it! I did NOT know Greg had put his S-7S on skis, I will relax now knowing he is not missing out on the winter fun. As much fun flying as goes on back there in the summer, I really couldn't imagine you all just "hung out at the airports" all winter!

Re: Landing In A Bowl???

Watch out for that flat light in the snow. It can be worse than landing on Glassy Water. At least if you are landing on Glassy Water you know the surface is flat. Snow can hide a lot of things when the light is flat like that.
It is a little better when you know where you are landing. Yellow sun glasses help a lot.
