Get your PPC, then pick up a copy of Sparky's "Mountain Flying Bible", Tamarack keeps them in stock in Fairbanks. Then go practice the techniques from that book in what ever plane you have available. One of the nice things about that book is that it has techniques for low powered tricycle gear planes too. Like my 150 for example.

I am still working on my license too. I have my own plane and I used to fly 4 -5 times a week but it has slowed down some because I am still on a leash and soloing just isn't as fun as it once was. I really need to get my checkride done so I can actually go somewhere. I spent the last week in Northern Idaho hiding from phone calls so I could relearn everything I keep forgetting. Any suggestions on who is a good examiner to use around northern Utah? Thanks

I liked "The Compleat taildragger pilot" by Harvey Plourde. It was a lot easier to read than the Stick and Rudder book, seemed like more plain english, and less writers flair.
