As someone who was in combat arms you understand weapon systems no?

How is carrying a modern and maintained weapon in condition 1 remotely a bit much?

I always carry, single action, condition 1, full mag and 1 in the tube, hammer back, safety on.

The safety not only stops the trigger from coming aft, it also blocks the firing pin, the only way the primer is going to take a strike is thumbing the safety down and putting your bugger hook on the trigger.

Even if I carried condition 0, so one in the tube, hammer back and safety OFF, with a proper holster that covers the trigger, the thing ain’t going off unless you draw and put your finger on the trigger, and the only reason I’m moving my finger from straight to over the trigger is because I mean to put rounds on target.

Re: Legality of loaded gun in plane

For those that wonder why you would fly with a loaded gun, I will say, it is very hard to shoot coyotes out of the plane if the gun is not loaded. One time I arrived at the airport to head out shooting prairie dogs (not from the plane, land and shoot) so had to transfer my gun from truck to plane. Problem was Obama was in town and about to fly out. Secret service snipers were quite obvious on top of terminal building about 600 yards away. Was able to transfer the gun to plane without taking a 50 caliber round to the head.
