Yes indeed this is real. I wrote my representatives in Pennsylvania about it. The proposal went into committee last February, 2008 where it was allowed to die. Hopefully it will not be reintroduced. I would encourage others to check on the status of these proposals in their states and write their representatives.

The stated purpose of the proposal is to be able to track a bullet back to an individual. However, since it is so easy to make bullets at home, this proposal is all but worthless.

In essence, if passed: it would make you a criminal if you kept unserialized ammunition after a certain date; it would effectively eliminate reloading; it would place a .08 to .22 cent tax on each bullet you purchase; and your ammunition purchases would be tracked by the government.

Now back to flying!

New tactic of the gun-control folks that has been flying under the radar a bit for people who don't belong to the NRA: ammunition control.

That, and a nifty tool for homicide detectives that - while it has merit - probably isn't a good idea for reasons not the least of which being cost to the consumer.

Bumper sticker I saw today:
GUN CONTROL MEANS HITTING THE TARGET
Just thought I would pass it on.
