lightweight interior

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

lightweight interior

I have an older 182C with decent interior. It has the ugly headliner, that looks like was made out of 70's curtain type material #-o . the seats are fine and the carpet is ok... but if i strip the side panels and the headliner what are my options???? I'm ok with nothing if I can make nothing look Ok, like rattle can fleck paint... or are the couple of companys like airtex my only option??

Re: lightweight interior

had my headliner and side panels covered by "arturo" in kingman, az...he is first rate and affordable...
his interiors are high quality...kingman is a nasty place to fly out of in the summer, though!

Re: lightweight interior

Our 170B has a lightweight interior, or in other words, no interior.

The previous owners goal was to lighten it up and he dropped a total of 110lbs from the plane.
Some of the weight was unecessary avionics and some interior.

The interior is no door panels or headliner but instead fleck paint and grey primer.
In place of the headliner is closed cell foam for some insulation. The baggage compartment is also lined
with closed cell foam to keep stuff from riding on the inside of the skin. The floor is plastic tread plate, for lack of a better term.

When I first saw it, I instantly liked it. Easy to maintain and fix and touch up with cheap paint.
Relatively inexpensive to install.

I'll try to get motivated to post a couple pictures, but if I recall, Sully Co SD is not to far from here.
If this weather clears up this fall, we could meet for lunch. Been wanting to fly to, I think its Wall SD? Wall drug?

Bill,
I've seen the inside of your airplane. It looks great! Any problem keeping warm in the winter? Have you had the fly-in breakfast at Turtle Lake yet this year?

One way to go is http://selkirk-aviation.com

We had his interior kit in a '57 180. Looks very clean and super durable. Some guys like it, some say it's too heavy. The installation was a pain, to say the least. Fairly expensive.

I saw a 185 in Anchorage that one of the Air Guard guys owns that is totally stripped out and painted with Zolatone 20 which is that professional quality splatter paint stuff. It looked awesome

Re: lightweight interior

Mark,

The fly in breakfast was 2 or 3 weeks ago. Low ceiling and big wind.
I'm losing track of time under these heavy gray skies

No problem keeping warm in the winter or windows clear. Last year I did fly at zero.

Tough to compete with your interior, SWEET 8)
