Looing for a piece of hardware

I'm trying to find some of the little tiny shackles like the ones in the photo used to hook the spring to the rudder horn. I can't find them anyplace. I have a very similiar TW set up to the one in the pic and with the clips supplied in the kit the spring and one link of chain is too long and if I take the one link out it's too short. I need a shackle like this to split the difference. Any ideas where I could find something like that?

You might try either a marine supply store or a horse tack supplier. West Marine had 6 pages of shackles listed, although I did not see one exactly like what you show in your picture. The local Ace hardware store has stainless steel snap links that look pretty much like what I see in your photo. I can't tell how long the ones in your photo are, or the diameter of the link legs, but they come in a wide variety of sizes. If you can't find them let me know more specifics and I'll check to see if the ones I saw would be close to what you are looking for.

Thanks Mark! I have tried Ace and the local marine shop. They all have shackles but nothing quite that small.

Re: Looing for a piece of hardware

I recently walked into a Cessna parts dealer needing the very same part for my 180. He came out of the parts room with the remnants of an old Maule tailwheel kit and..shazzamm :D , two shackles!. One would think Cessna should have the part but go figure. You might try a Maule dealer or contact the factory directly.

Google "maillon rapide"

They're made in all sizes.

Post or PM me with the size shackle you need and I'll check to see if they have them here. I live in the middle of hoity-toity horse, ah, excuse me, EQUESTRIAN country and the shops here are full of such stuff. include the overall length and diameter of the metal legs.

It's not a certified part, but it probably doesn't need to be:

355T45 looks like it could suffice.

I know where to get some of that black tape for your leaf spring when it wears out as well.
