Looking for good straight 182 mechanic in Southeast USA
Owning an aircraft has many special considerations like financing, taxes, inspections, registration, and even partnerships. You can post questions on buying and selling procedure. Please post type-specific questions and topics in the
Types forum.
Im picking up a new plane and my plan is to drop it off with someone that could put a few weeks work into it doing some the modifications. Ext tanks, STOL, wheels/tires, ext baggage. This is quite a bit of work so I would be willing to fly to someone if the price and quality is going to be on point. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From what i have seen with shop backlogs and the weeks to months relatively simple annuals are taking. I would plan on your aircraft being down for several months if not more at a minimum, not weeks for that scope of work.

I'm guessing that you're going to pick up the plane in SE USA, but your profile says you're in Boulder. You should consider Brian, who is in Oregon. If you haven't seen his thread on a similar modification project, you should take a look at it. I think you'll be impressed with the quality of his work and his shop rate is lower than you'll find in most metropolitan areas.

Hector in Glenwood Springs is great at this kind of work if you're bringing it to Boulder

Absolutely, Ive been following his thread. I actually live in Costa Rica and I am picking up the plane in Florida before heading south. So I was hoping to find a good shop in the SE that could get all that work down. Yes, it will probably take some time.

I hope you find someone. Even more than that I hope you had a thorough prebuy done especially since your buying a Florida airplane. That place is prefect for growing corrosion.
