Looking to buy a H/D Nose Fork for a 172
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

I'm looking to buy a heavy duty nose fork, including axel and 6-inch wheel to install on a C-172. One from a C-206, 310 etc... If you know of one for sale please PM me. Thanks.

What year is the 172. Was it optional equipment or do you need a field approval?

qmdv posed a valid question. A couple of years ago I found a HD fork with wheel and tire assembly. Since my plane at the time was a 1960 172A and the HD fork was not on the list, it would have needed approval. In the end, it would have been nearly as expensive as getting the Airglas fork, which is actually the better option. I think the HD fork can only use up to a 7.00-6 tire.

6” is perfect size for nosewheel, 8” mains. I would not go any larger.
Are you saying 6.00 is perfect and 8.00 for the mains? 6" is the wheel size... I run a 7.00 and 8.50s on the mains and would not go any smaller for the flying I do.

I ran a 8.50-6 nose and 31” mains. It worked awesome for what I was doing up here in AK. 31” is overkill but I didn’t sink in soft stuff like the 8.50’s would. The airplane had a 207 fork and 7.00-6 nose the Airglas with a 8.50-6 was a huge difference in soft places.
There are several heavy duty forks for sale on anc Craigslist

Thanks, I bought one from skyward that day. My plane had an approved FA for a HD fork in the past so I was planning on using a 7.00 and 8.50 smooth dessers. Its a M model. I mainly just use gravel bars in the summer, nothing too wild with it.
