Lots of sanding this weekend
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I pulled the fabric off my horizontal stab on Friday only to find a nice mystery corrosion surprise. I spent hours cleaning the corrosion off and evaluating the metal. Got it all primed up today and ready for new fabric. We should start covering tomorrow.

Looks like you did a little welding to clean that up. That right there must have made you glad you stripped that puppy down!
Nice work!

Wilco Denali! The elevator and rudder were recovered a year ago after a little hanger incident bent some stuff so the horizontal was the only piece that was still orignal. I decided to tear the fabric off because it was easy to do and I figured it would be simple to recover it. Your right I'm sure glad I did as it was nasty in there. Drain holes are a good thing! This thing didn't have any and it showed.
This is the first work like this I've done and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I was fortunate enough to find and A&P that likes to teach so I'm learning alot and learning my airplane at the same time. I have a brand new respect for the guys that do ground up restorations on airplanes. I have tons of time into this thing already and still a lot left to do. I'm hoping to be flying by March!
