I will say that you really need good brakes as the old Van Sickles on my Champ proved nearly worthless with all the leverage these tires had.

I think about this happening every time I climb into a stand. Hope your doing good and still hunting. Ground blinds can be effective too, for people with broken legs.

The old brakes are worthless!! On my first landing with these tires I felt I was going to snap off my heel brakes or shove them through the floor boards. It felt like the brakes were coated with grease. My strip is only 1000 ft with NO room for error....well I landed just a little long so the pucker factor was WAY up!! I nearly groundlooped it just to stop.
By the way...my wife is in the Army and we have orders for Alaska and I should be up there the end of March or first of April. Maybe I'll get to meet some of you alaska guys.

I am headed back to Hawaii on the 11th of Dec. Sure have been bored around here since there hasn't been any play time with the plane.
Guess I'll do as BRD says.....kick back near Diamondhead with a Mai-Tai and oggle the babes in bikini's.
