There is nothing, nothing quite so nice as Halloween for a Doberman Pincer. She doesn't even need a costume and she scares hell out of the little dears.
Come on dad, let me eat the next one!

She is a love ain't she. I've had dobermans for going on half my life now and I like the normal ears primarily because it changes the perspective of the civilian population so much. "Oh what a sweet heart, what kind of dog is she", "A doberman pincer". "Eghahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" It establishes what I like to think of as a proper relationship with strangers and soccer moms. In the photo with my snuggly toy there you can see the Pergo floor behind her.
So when the doorbell goes off so does Lucy in a cloud of legs and toenails for the entire 35' from her "spot" there next to the Lazyboy all the way to the front door. Barking her fool head off at tremendous volume all the way of course. She can't get no gripptchun. Inevitably she fails to correctly calculate her landing and travels with great velocity off the end of the runway and crashes into the back of the door. All of this is naturally GREAT FUN for a dog. It's the reaction on the other side of the door that makes me chuckle; and I have surreptitiously observed these proceedings many times.
When we open the door, all the moms, dads and kiddies have scattered and arrayed themselves across the front lawn in defensive postures, believing I suppose that annihilation is immanent. "You Rang?" Heh heh heh heh heh. She helps hand out the candy with approving sniffs and no small amount of tail wagging as each little one extends a timid hand for the handout. I wouldn't have any other kind of dog.
