Want to see a cool photo of back country airplane doing a water assisted landing on a gravel bar on the cover of the Smithsonian Air and Space magazine? If so click the link to get to the voting page and vote.

I have no idea who it is or where it is. Any one know?

I voted for the Cub. No disrespect to the heavy iron, but I beleive they get a good deal of representation in the flight museums and aviation press. General aviation particularly back coutry aviation could use a little boost from the Air and Space community.
I think the pilot may be Lonnie of Big Rocks and Cubdriver 749er fame --that puts them in Alaska or the Great Northwest. I am geussing Alaska.

Hell anyone can fly and land a B1 but it takes skill to land a cub on water and transition to gravel. My vote goes to the cub, which by the way, looks like a great t shirt photo....Hint Hint...

I just voted for the obvious. (The Cub.) The count said 269 for the B-1 and 268 for the Cub. Crank it up folks! Gitcher votes in.

As much as I'd love to see the Cub.. I've noticed that in the past, the top vote getter doesn't always make the cover.

Not to change the subject, but Idaho Magazine is featuring a story on the backcountry in the April issue. Ends up that they needed a picture for the cover and couldn't find one that fit. Then the editor found the website of my friend who I took flying in the backcountry two years ago. He contacted my friend to see if he could use one of the pics, to which he said yes. Ends up it is me in the pic helping to unload a plane at Big Creek.
Anyway, check it out.
