Thanks to all the letter writing and e-mails to the Maine legislators, chambers of commerce and business owners by pilots the Maine Legislature has changed the use tax law .Visiting aircraft will no longer be subject to the tax.

Maine use Taxes

I may have spoken prematurely.I just heard through another source that they decided to change it again and not exempt visiting aircraft.
I have a call in to the dept of revenue and will post as soon as I know.

Maine use Taxes

Unfortunately the Maine legislature did at the last minute remove the exemption for visiting aircraft.

They exempted Angel flight time.

I again posed the question why not tax motor homes.

The answer from the dept of revenue"Oh that would kill tourism"
