Mars Rover Gravel Bar

Here's a shot from the Curiosity rover today, parked on an old streambed. Be cool to see a Cub in the background setting up for a water assisted landing.

I think it would be more reasonable to expect to see a liquid CO2 assisted landings. Unfortunately internal combustion engines need O2. BUT on Mars we have Hydrazine/peroxide powered O-360's... making 350hp and swinging 150" props in the rarefied atmosphere. Also ABW will have to adjust their rubber composition to deal with the - 100 C temps

Butch, look on my Facebook page. I have the pic and NASA link there (can't snag it off my work computer)

No little "marvin the martian" peeking around the corner of the photo-- what's up with that?

Ok, I say the rover is fake since it doesn't cast a shadow but there is one behind the cub. :D

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.

Fat tires needed for Martian operations!

(Did you steal his Illudium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator?)
