Re: Massive slow down over the past few days.

Well whatever was going on has now been resolved. The site is faster than ever on my Road Runner cable connection. No more having to grab the iPad or jump on my server in NYC to surf the site... =D>

I get that too sometimes. I believe that occurs since the latest topic list is using the search feature of the forum and it might have a max searches per x amount of time limit in place which is why you might see that or the database is being indexed and search is unavailable during that period. I don't know the software in use here so this is just speculation.

Re: Massive slow down over the past few days.

Might be something at local ISP's?

Was fast at our house in Utah. Now visiting relatives in Bakersfield and it crawls. Same service level as we have in Utah, but it's aggravatingly slow here on everything: laptop with IE7, Firefox, or Chrome; two different iPads with Safari; two different iPhones; even slow in Firefox when I boot laptop in Ubuntu. All other sites are normal.

Suspect an FAA filter at selected ISP's looking for pictures of damaged airplanes or keywords indicating bragging. :)

If you are having the slow-to-a-crawl issues like I am, try using a web proxy server. Go to http://hidemyass.com (no kidding) and paste http://www.backcountrypilot.org into the little dialog box. It will run this site in a shell and it is orders of magnitude faster on my machine. It's free, so BCP'ers ought to love it. :?

BCP is blazing fast on my Commodore 64. According to Tim's latest post on here the Wright brothers are getting ready to attempt Johnson Creek.

No problems at all, either at home (using Chrome and Qwest DSL) or at the office (IE something and Qwest DSL). Office is a little slower during the day, due to DSL capacity issues, or so I'm told, but that's not limited to BCP.

We periodically hire a kid who is such a computer whiz that I can't communicate with him in Geekish, but he sure does know his stuff. He's a full time Dell support tech and a part time anything else tech. A week or so he worked on this laptop for a couple hours and had to be forced to take $50 instead of the $20 he was willing to take, he's that good.

Today, from work, it isn't slow at all.

Don't know what changed.

On a MacbookPro, core II I5. Slow, then fast, then slow, then it can't remember who I am, then; well you get the point. I'm on ATT U-verse. I feel a little like that "Can you hear me yet" guy from Verizon. I have the 6mps connection. Entirely too slow. Streaming video and audio unacceptable.

Coincidentally, Barnstormers has been on and off available too.

BCP has been spunky lately but I have noticed that Barnstormers has been having some issues over the past week or so.
