See item 17 on this list.
http://www.mauleairinc.com/modification_kit_index.pdf Then call Maule. The IO360 will require a fuel boost pump and a different air intake box amongst other things. They are the manufacturer and can do darn near anything they want on a field approval or a one time.

I was thinking about putting in the silverhawk conversion from precision airmotive. Does anyone have experience with this conversion? I guess with no STC I will have to make a trip to Moultrie for field approval? Thanks for any help. I do not see the STC on Maule's site BTW. thanks.

If it's on the type certificate for the model, it should be possible to convert per the Type Certificate and Manufacturer's data. The IO 360 is on the TC for the M-5. Now, you're gonna need some parts....and those will have to be "legal" parts. The conversion would have to be done per the Maule design plans.
Here's the link to the Maule TC:

Maule built two M5-200C models in 1982. S/n 8015C and 8022C
200hp Lycoming IO360 J1A6D 100LL 2700 rpm
Hartzell HC-E2YR-1BF/F8467-7R 77" constant speed prop.
Woodward K210681 governor.
To convert one, check prop, cowling, engine mount, tach, exhaust, fuel boost pump, etc.

Jeremy... I have an O-360-C1F. Mattituck has a the SilverHawk conversion but it is hard to tell if it is only for experimental. I talked with Maule and they have the IO-360 on record as you described however the engine type is specifically J1A6D as you indicated. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get approval for a C1F conversion OR who I might talk with at Maule to get this information? I would really like to keep my airplane certified. Thank you

Maulem5, i'm not familiar with a 'Silverhawk conversion', what is it?
Maule have on the M5 Type Cert, the IO360 J1A6D 200hp, the O360 C1F 180hp, the TO360 C1A6D 210hp Lycomings, and the IO360 Continental 210hp.
