Maule's in Idaho
Technical and practical discussion about specific aircraft types such as Cessna 180, Maule M7, et al. Please read and search carefully before posting, as many popular topics have already been discussed.
All, I'm new to the site and only in my second year of backcountry flying. Just a young person, ~250hrs, eager, with lots of dumb questions...
The natural progression is clearly to get a tailwheel! I know lots of people with lots of two seaters and tricycle planes, but I don't know anyone with an M7 or M9 Maule down here in Boise.
Does anyone here know someone in the treasure valley with a Maule that wouldn't mind showing me their bird in person? I'd buy a tank of gas! If not, has anyone here used Northwest Backcountry Aircraft? I think they are a Maule dealer.
I assume it's always a good idea to fly an aircraft before you decide on a type, so that's what I'm attempting to do. Thanks for the advice.

Bob and Kasey are very knowledgeable people and good to work with. I would have no hesitation in recommending them for information.
I am not affiliated with them in anyway, I have however benefited from their knowledge.

I flew to Joseph to pick up my Airstreaks, back when they were selling them, The town was unexpectedly scenic as hell, it surprised me, much of that side of Oregon isn't. Make a fun trip out of it.

Thanks for the continued advice. Maybe I'll chat with both of them! An excuse to go to Joseph is never out of style. I flew to the flyin there once about 3 years ago. The Wallowas are such a sweet range!

While in Joseph, you could make a short side trip to the Minam River lodge (7OR0) in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. They have a nice grass runway and it's a GREAT place for a meal and/or a sleepover.
http://www.minam-lodge.com/There's some good YouTube videos of getting in and out of there.

Awesome...I'd love to find a day in June to meet up, see your Maule, buy you a tank of gas or a beer to learn more about the type. Look me up when the time gets closer. I fly out of KMAN. - Jon
