Maule VG Installation
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
I recently added the Micro Aerodynamic kit to my M7-235. All the normal improvements to stall characteristics and slow flight controlability have been noted, with one exception - a pronounced left wing drop on power on stalls. This was not there before the installation.
Any ideas?
I'm sure I'm holding enough right rudder during the maneuver so that's not the issue.

Interesting that it is worse after vg installation. My planes just mush at stall. Is the placement of the vg's exact? My planes just kinda mush and pickup flying spped again. The m5 i once owned had a very nice stall characteristic,it just kinda mushed.I will be very interested in hearing what you find.

The power off stall has gone from a mild break (without VG's) to a mush with them. It's only with power that things have changed unfavorably - from a predictable forward break to a break with an initial left wing drop.
One thing I noticed is this wing drop comes with moderate power (20"). With take off power (25"), I did not notice the left break. I need to try this again to confirm, but that was my initial finding.

A similar post was on
www.maulepilots.org and the following was my thought
If you are in a power on stall with not enough rudder input then it would want to break left. If you have adequate right rudder in then is your aileron in a cross control position. If so then the washout on the wings may not be rigged correctly, so the left is stalling when the other is not ready to let go yet. The vortex generators increase effectiveness of the ailerons at slow speed which is one of their advantages so the above may be why this showed up after installation of VGs.
Maybe you could compare notes with the fellow on the other chatroom.
Jeremy

I'd bet that Jeremy is onto something there.
Give it a close look.

Thanks for the followup thoughts. The posting on the Maule Pilot Web Site was from my partner in the airplane. I suspect it's a washout issue (although our mechanic had re-rigged shortly before VG installation and indicated it was consistent with spec). We'll spend some time with the rigging shortly. Unfortunate, as it finally flies straight (for years it did not).
