Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Greg I have been wating to hear about the cub you are building ever since I heard about it. I see you posted some pics, when do we get the juicy details.
does it have the droopy aileron system?
I've heard of guys building ultra light cubs with no fabric on the fuselage is that what you are going for?
What engine mods?
what does it weigh?

I was just reading on Gregs blog he has flown his cub and is a little disappointed in the landing speed. in my experience cubs with light tails take off better but dont slow down and set up for landing as good as tail heavy ones. now I have only flown 4 deferent cubs but that is my observation. Has any one else noticed this?
I dont know how he could make the tail heavier without adding weight to the plane having no battery to move. I would be interested to see if it made a difference.

Ways to make the tail heavier (aka move CG aft) without relocating the (non-existant) battery:
shorten engine mount
lighter prop (wood or composite)
move ELT aft
foam in tailwheel tire instead of air
lead weight at tailwheel

The last two do add some degree of weight, but a little bit goes a long way at that extreme aft location. Some of these methods are obviously more effective than others at moving the CG.

Ya why doesent MT or someone make a composite borer prop. if they can make a cs prop that weighs the same as a fixed pitch they should be able to make a fixed pitch weigh almost nothing.

It's light and I love that feeling

I have so much time in Bushwacker that it is not an easy switch. I like the cub but it is not like I can hop into it and land the places I do with Bushwacker. I am guessing that after I have several hundred hours in it I will start to wear it more like I do Bushwacker. I think a bigger wing may be in the future.

I have a few issues with the airplane that will have to be addressed eventually. The airplane does not have enough nose up trim and the tail shakes slightly in level cruise flight which is not normal.

It is light and gets off like Carbon Cub, It feels better balanced now that I add the Baby Bushwheel, 8lb steel spacer, and anti-freeze in the tail wheel (total weight added 18lbs).

Thanks for the interest,

Greg

Mauleguy I was just wondering why didnt you build a carbon cub? they seem like the logical choice to me. except for the price mabe.

I'm curious about adding anti-freeze- did you have some trouble with the tailwheel freezing up in winter? :?
Seriously, I know it was for weight, but why anti-freeze as opposed to Las Schwab foam or just water?
