Mc Kenzie bridge Sat. 16th
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!
My wife daughter and I just decided to head over to mc kenzie bridge. We should be off the ground in 45min to an hour and I believe it will take us about 1:15 hours to get there. We are leaving out of Coquille.
If anyone wants to meet up, come on out. You can also follow the link to my spot at the bottom of this post.

The Forest Service planned to build a helibase for fire fighting. Is this it?
http://www.fs.fed.us/sopa/components/re ... 08-01.html"Description: Develop a fire suppression support helibase adjacent to the McKenzie Bridge State Airport administrative site. Project will include removal of 5-6 acres of thinned second growth trees, removing stumps, leveling, seeding, improving roads, and fencing."

Nice day trip. The logging doesn't look terrible from the picture anyway.
That's a pretty sweet baby you've got there... I suppose the kid is kinda cute as well.

US Forest Service is a part of US Dept of Agriculture. Logging is harvesting a resource, kinda like picking peas or mowing hay only with a longer crop cycle. Business as usual. Maybe there was a specific and/or additional reason for clearing this particular spot, but USFS shouldn't need a reason to log other than they're selling timber, should they?
