Re: McCall pilot killed

There was a thread on it yesterday. I think it was pulled for some reason or out of respect for the family.

Re: McCall pilot killed

So very sad to hear this.
I remember Neil as a 12 year-old when I took Lori's course. He was a sweet kid who loved airplanes.
My deepest sympathies for Lori and her family.

Re: McCall pilot killed

Having lost a son i know the pain Lory and family are experiencing and will feel from now on. I can only describe it as a hole in your heart that will never heal. You never get over it and never will completely. I can only say that it just gets different not better. People ask. "Well do you have other children" as if that somehow should make up for the loss of one. The one that irks me the most is "having closure". WTF is closure. There is no such thing. God bless you and your family Lori. So sorry you are going to have to travel that road. Butch

Re: McCall pilot killed

I've not lost any of my children, but I have to agree, it has to be every parent's nightmare. Like any tragedy, no one can know how much the parents, or anyone else, suffers, as grief is very personal. The term "closure" is garbage--it may be good to know the why of a death, but there's no closure, per se. As time goes by, suffering is less--not gone, but less--for most people.

I don't know the MacNichols, but if Lori participates here at all, I hope that she sees the condolences we offer. I wish her the comfort that only God can provide.

God bless the family, I have no idea of the pain they are in. I'll pray for them.

Re: McCall pilot killed

God bless them. I was close to this in many ways. He lived out of a RV for a while at the airport I fly out of occasionally, and then in the basement of a good friends house for six months. He did his own thing, but was always full of energy and character, and fiercely independent. He had just started attending college in Utah and saved his pennies working summer's as a pilot in Moab and other endeavors to purchase his own plane at such a young age when the rest of us were wasting it on cars and booze. He was on the last leg of his trip to a family reunion when this happened.

It was the first memorial I've been to. I'm sure it won't be the last. It was a strong showing of support for the family.

Be careful out there, and remember, a mother never forgets.
