Seriously?

Does she wipe the bugs off the airplane after flight and do your thinking for you? #-o

Re: Meet Avi, the Aviatrix

I think it is an interesting idea, sort of a Bitchin' Betty with a brain, or an intelligent checklist.

I would personally like a really sassy and sarcastic version--
"Hey, dumbass, you really want to put the gear down for a landing on water?"
"Tower said not above 2500', but what do they know?"
"Traffic at 2 o'clock closing fast but you have right of way, so screw them!"
"Did we land, or were we shot down?"

Like any new technology in an industry that is averse to change, I suspect an uphill adoption battle but I laud you for trying.

Re: Meet Avi, the Aviatrix

At the risk of being called a Luddite, I see all sorts of potential problems, if a pilot were to try to rely on Avi. Much like the sweet voice in my RAV4, which never understands what I'm asking and almost always does something different from what I want her to do (except when I say "cancel"), I can see Avi giving out wrong information. Or perhaps "she" will do like Siri on my phone, which often as not says, "I'm sorry Cary, I'm not allowed to do that!" (and no, I didn't ask for anything lewd!).

Sometimes, it really pays for a pilot to do the thinking, and not allow technology to replace the incredible computer that exists between the ears of most humans.
