So the weather in southcentral AK has been pretty crappy so far this year. Not really summer, more like perpetual spring with rain instead of snow, and it's been windy. So windy that I've been landing in 12kt-18kt more often than not, and while that's not undoable by any stretch, I do prefer lighter winds as it's just more relaxing.
So I was excited to see decent weather for our camping trip in Whitter. The flight down Turnagain arm was beautiful as usual:
Even saw some sheep, though you can't really see more than little white dots on the iPhone:
Once we got to Whitter we were greeted with a 1200 ft one way strip. Thankfully the wind was favorable for landing into it:
The strip is out over the water, with a bunch of mountains, so the wind does blow a bit here.
Once we landed we were joined later by a Maule and a Baby 180 (Straight tail 150 converted to tailwheel):

After camping for a day, and dead fishing, and seeing some weather heading in which would produce wind/rain, we decided to bolt early:
We flew around the sound just a little before heading home, and right on the other side of the mountain, it was beautiful and sunny. It was a short 45min flight home then landed in 70F sunny weather in Wasilla. I decided to open my garage door and work on my welding table for the rest of the day. The weather that followed was sun, rain, thunder/lightening, heavy rain, then sunny again. It was like being in the Midwest, and I was glad to be productive on my project instead of navigating around that nonsense.
Now out to work on the Bearhawk, and maybe a hike later....
