This is a long shot but I couldn't see the N number so I have to ask. The 180/185 on the slide out of Moose river, is that N272SC a Kenmore 180? It really resembles that plane. I flew it about 10 years ago in Seattle. In fact I picked it up on wheels from the paint shop in Everett when it got that scheme and then flew it on floats the rest of the summer. Great pics by the way. I always loved that paint job on the water.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Outta my league Zane. When I get the current home page it is one of the latest pic uploads, it is in menendez777's gallery, it's a 180/185 on floats, and it's labeled "Moose river takeoff". That's the best I can do. Oh, it's orange/yellow on white.

You have some time in my airplane! Owned by Kenmore from new, sold and operated by Northwest Seaplanes for quite some time. Bought it from a guy from rochester NY. He operated it in Prudoe bay and in up- state NY for a while. I bought it this past year and having a ball. It's quite an airplane. I'll post some more pictures soon! Would love to hear your story

It's always fun to see old sleds surface every now and then. I don't have that much time in SC. I flew it the first summer NW Sea had it (thus picking it up at the paint shop) and flew mostly Beavers so only about 40 hours. All but the trip from the paint shop on floats. Had a couple of good trips to Hakai and Nootka in her, a drop off at Tofino, and five or so trips to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, etc.
I remember she flew well and was relatively fast on floats. If you ever wondered what 272SC was for, it was Shane Carlsons (son of Clyde Carlson, owner of NW Sea) birth month and year I believe.
Glad your having a blast with it. If you ever make it out west stop by to say hello.

It's been an excellent plane so far, fast on floats and does everything i need it to do. I was wondering how clyde carlson got the N number of SC figured it was someone in his family. The previous N number was N66405. The tail still has the Hakai lodge logo and behind the doors still has the NW seaplanes logo (minus the NW) but has the canadian/American flag. Their website just shows photos of beavers, did they have any other 180/185 while you were there. Just wondering if there are any more floating around with the same paint scheme. N272SC is still floating on the original edo 2960's which I find pretty impressive considering she has 7,035 hrs on the airframe and most of those hours are on floats I assume. If I'm ever out in the Northwest I'll stop by and maybe even bring it by NW Seaplanes.

That was the only one of those he had. When he owned Lake Union Air in the 80's he had some 206's (and Beavers). That was bought to get Shane started I believe and once he had enough time to get insured in the Beavers it was sold. As far as the paint, yours is a one of a kind that I know of.
I am in Idaho now so you might have to be on wheels although I have landable water within 15 miles. As for the Carlsons, Clyde is now in Anacortes running the wheel side of things he bought a few years back. However Shane has come full circle in his dad's footsteps and he is still in Renton running (and flying in the summer!) the whole show on the float side. I'm sure they would get a kick out of seeing SC.
