Recently I have been working far enough away from home that I can't commute every night via car. And to far away to commute via plane and make economical since. So to remedy the situation I fly home on the weekends. However; I still have to get a vehicle down to the airport close to my work. That's where the wife comes in, and it always costs me.
This time it cost me a trip to some relaxing hot springs.Last week I started off calling ahead and renting a cabin. One of the owners answered the phone and was very nice and helpful. I let him know I was going to be flying in, he filled me in on the condition of the strip and tiedowns. He told me flying in was totally cool but just I case I didn't know it's not officially open.....
So Saturday after my 1.8 hour flight to Bakersfield and my wife's 4.5 hour drive

On approach from the south I did notice a rather large hill and a rather large sign conveniently located almost directly in my glide path. So if you end up going there keep that in mind. Don't try to make it to short
. I did taxi the full length to check on the strip and it was smooth! So smooth I could almost ride a skateboard down it.
After tying down we walked up the hill to check in to our cabin.

Mercey hot springs has no food available so whatever you want to you better bring. they do have a BBQ you can use so that is nice.

This place is very cool they have one warm pool and two different soaking areas. One for clothed people and one clothing optional, there are personal soaking tubs for the shy individual and a huge tent for yoga/meditation......

They also have a frizz bee golf corse and all the hiking you can stand. For lodging There are 6 cabins I believe, a couple airstream rv's a guy can rent, and tent camping. I think I will be tent camping next time. It is the closest to the strip so I don't have to lug my cooler full of beer and steaks so far

We had a very relaxing time here. I highly recommend it. Little bit of a hippy/yuppy vibe. But we are in California after all
