"Sign here, please"

I had a flight to Merrill this afternoon and departed McGrath just before 2pm, so I missed it. The videos I saw on youtube after arriving home all show a 727 approaching and disappearing behind snow berms or an apartment complex halfway to Eagle River... Hopefully someone who recorded from a better vantage point will post it on the web somewhere.

Here is the story of the actual landing of the 727 on the 4,000 foot runway at Merrill yesterday -- also some pictures:

Re: Merrill field gets a new resident

The first one looks more like a go-around than a fly-by as stated in the newspaper.

Reminds me of the short time that "old" Frontier flew 737s into Laramie while I was chairing the airport board there, when they retired the Convair 580s. Somewhere in a box, I have a picture I took of the first landing, while standing on the runway as it was on short final (perk of being the chairman, and obviously pre 9/11).

Here's a pretty good video of the landing. Great job by the pilots.
