It hurts to read about a pilot dying in a crash. Then I see that it was a CFI who was known for encouraging people to chase their dreams. Damn that hits close.
Thoughts with the family/friends of the pilot :/

When I learned to fly up there in the early 70s, it was like flying in a beehive (and we did it without transponders or ADS-B!). So yeah, it's very busy. It's actually surprising that there aren't more mid-airs, but perhaps just like we did then, we really looked very hard outside for other airplanes.
