Guy,

What route do you take to get out there from Salem? I know the Cascades aren't that high in that area, but I would think some routes are better than others.

Guy,
Eather my map is broken or your compas is. Looks to me like if you head Southeast from Salem you are not going to bump into Mt Hood. But I never have been very good at reading a chart.

jmtgt, what's your beef with Minam? From Strata's pics, the place looks sweet.

We're heading to Minam Lodge in August (makes a great halfway stop on the way to Seattle area). Does anybody have a gouge on this strip? Never been there before...

Thanks fellas...

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

The Minam Lodge private airstrip (pilots land at their own risk) is a two-way dirt and sod strip about 2600 ft. long . Airstrip elevation 3,600 feet. GPS coordinates: 45.21.00N, 117,38.00W. Red's Horse Ranch strip is just South , so you will need to contact traffic advisory on 122.9 to determine if there is any other traffic. Landing from the South involves approaching over Red's with a slight dogleg to the right at flare. There is enough room to land with a slight tail wind from the North which is preferable. I used to have a bunch of pictures on Johan's site but he got greedy.

Good view looking South with Minam in foreground and Red's Horse Ranch just beyond. This shot gives you some idea of the open bowl over Red's for go around
Enjoy! This is truely God's Country.

Thanks to all for the replies! We'll take a pic or two and post 'em when we get back.

Wup, we sure do appreciate the invite. We'll stop for gas on the way back from Seattle... Airnav says you have 100LL but the sectional doesn't. Is Airnav correct?
