mineral canyon - CAUTION

I stopped at Mineral canyon, UT the other day. There is a big hole on the center line about 3/4 of the way down the runway towards the south (downstream) end.
The rest of the strip is ok, a little soft at the upstream end.

It's going to take a couple of shovels and a 5 gal bucket to transfer some dirt from the edges into the hole. I didn't have anything with me.
So be careful when landing there.

no, it looks like water damage has created a sink hole type erosion situation. Kinda strange actually, as far as holes in the dirt go!

Thanks for the update. If you've not done it, maybe add it to shortfield.com too.

Hole at Mineral Bottom.

Looks like a sinkhole or maybe a rodent's residence that caved in. There were two other spots that looked like the same thing was staring to happen; one on the very edge of the runway and one right next to this hole. I filled it in and drove over it a bunch with my pickup to pack it down. Still use caution; I wouldn't be surprised if it caved in again.

Thanks for your efforts Whee =D> I'd like to try camping there again. I tried last year but the surface was too wet.

Re: mineral canyon - CAUTION

No problem guys. I needed something to do. Was down there to float part of Labyrinth Canyon but one of my kids got sick the night before so her and I spent 4 days down there with nothing to do.

It rained a little when I was down there and it was surprising how little rain it takes to make that runway really sloppy. I did my best to not make a mess with my pickup and drove as far off the runway as I could but it was pretty sloppy. I assure you any vehicle ruts on the runway were not made by me.
