Mineral Canyon pirep needed

Gonna take a friend from Pennsylvania for a camping tour of the Desert later this week. Does anybody know the status of Mineral Canyon? I have heard of the road washout, just don't know the status of the strip.

Here's some pics of the road, maybe give the NPS a call.

Hey Matt, those are mind boggling pix from the NPS. Really too bad about that road. I flew into Mineral Canyon in the Land Rover last year and the road looked like this:

Parts of the road ALWAYS looked a bit sketchy.

It was a really dry spell and the runway surface was pretty solid (unless you're an ant):

Even though it was dry, that perpetual "wet spot" near the middle of the runway length was a bit boggy and the site of an ongoing 'skeeter orgy. That drainage improvement had stayed wet and I wonder what damage the heavy rains might have done to that section of the strip.

Actually, the drive in might have been a bit more scary than flying the approach! Certainly would be now

It's a beautiful place though, no matter HOW you manage to get down there.
