Your airplane already had the STC "installed"?? Okay, whose job was it to ensure that ALL the paperwork, ie: the STC itself, was in the airplane logbooks when you bought the airplane? That's why we do pre-buy Inspections.

You just gave me an idea, I'll just back charge the guy that did the pre-buy![]()
He will be camping with us this weekend, I'll see how he feels about that.
All the placards are installed, the paperwork is done, just missing one piece of paper.
The $340 originally paid for the STC must be the best deal going for anything you could purchase for an airplane.
Actually, you said yourself that the "paperwork" is NOT done, since you don't have the copy of the STC, and that is mandatory to make the mod legal.
And, hey, I don't disagree at all that if I were the STC holder, I'd probably send you a copy of the STC for free. I completely agree with Oregon Maule on the notion that this would be MUCH better advertising for Peterson.
BUT, the fact remains: YOU cannot legally operate that airplane on mogas until you get that piece of paper. You've been offered a deal, albeit not a great one, to solve that "problem". I have seen cases where an STC holder wanted full price for a "copy" of an STC. And, I've seen some provided for free. I paid $50 for one that I didn't really need one time, but the FAA said I had to have it. I could have fought city hall on that one, and probably won, but frankly, I considered that pretty cheap to have a legal airplane and well worth it to avoid the hassle. You said yourself that you can save that much by using mogas in short order, so.....
Life's too short to get too twisted about this stuff.
You've let us know that Peterson may not have the best customer service. Now, If I were you, I'd buy the STC and move on.
Nobody ever said commerce was always fair or equitable,
For what it's worth, which may not be much.
